May 16-22, 2010 is National Dog Bite Prevention Week

If you have read my story, then you know that meeting Roltime's postman the first time raised a few hairs on my back, but I did not bite him. Unfortunately that is not the case for many postal workers around the nation, so the USPS provides regular training to postal employees on how to prevent dog bites.

Postal employees are not the only ones who need training on how to avoid dog bites. We all do!

The Humane Society of the United States offers the following tips to prevent a dog bite:

• Never approach an unfamiliar dog.
• Don't pet a dog—even your own—without letting him see and sniff you first.
• Never turn your back to a dog and run away. A dog's natural instinct will be to chase and catch you.
• Don't disturb a dog while she's sleeping, eating, chewing on a toy, or caring for puppies.
• Be cautious around strange dogs.
• Always assume that a dog who doesn't know you may see you as an intruder or a threat.

By now, you have probably heard that in order to receive any discounts on your mailings that your list needs to be NCOA certified. What exactly does that mean?

NCOA stands for, National Change of Address. NCOA is the database that is used when you move to the a new home.

Every year approximately forty million Americans move their place of residence and/or business, but their old addresses often remain in mailer’s databases. As a result, mailings continue to go to old addresses and not the new ones. It is estimated that at least 8% of all mail is undeliverable because of incorrect addresses.

Having your list NCOA certified with Roltime will not only make sure your list is current, but it will save you time and money!

Keep in mind that NCOA certification does not guarantee that you will not receive any more returned mail because someone has moved. It is approx 96% accurate becuase it is consumer driven. If you move and do not inform the USPS, then when someone certifies their list, they will not receive the most current information.

So as the USPS says....Change of Address? Don't Stress!
